ORDER OF CANADA LUNCHEON PLATE

In honour of the decennial anniversary of the Order the china producer Royal Worcester Spode was commissioned to create a luncheon plate, 22.5 cm in diameter, bearing the insignia of the Order in the centre. Displaying a Companion’s insignia in the centre, the gold rimmed plate was edged with two bands of red, between which appeared a decorative pattern of maple leaves and maple seeds in gold intertwined. Two types of plates were issued; the first was purchased by Rideau Hall for use at the investiture dinner and Order of Canada functions while the second type was made available to members of the Order for private purchase.
