SYMBOLS OF THE ORDER
The various symbolic representations of the Order of Canada are much more than the snowflake insignia alone, although the snowflake shape, Royal Crown, maple leaf and national colours (red and white) dominate the various.
The origins, history and development of each of the Order’s symbols are covered in great detail with full colour photos in Chapter 10 of Fifty Years Honouring Canadians: The Order of Canada, 1967-2017 and Chapter Thirteen of The Order of Canada: Genesis of an Honours System. A complete history of the Order’s insignia, manufacturing, numbering and other related details are included providing the most comprehensive information compiled on this aspect of the Order of Canada.
